Without a doubt, I have one of the best jobs! But it is also quite labor intensive when the puppies are here and I am working 24/7. As each litter is born, I sometimes think about the 8 weeks ahead without a day off and cringe just a little bit. But then each week, I’m amazed at how fast the time is going! Just two short weeks until my little babies go home….how does that happen?? The boys have been spending time outside in the puppy pen and we take 1 or 2 walks out around the circle each day. They are starting to get really fun as they become more confident and let their own little personalities shine through!

In other news, our beautiful little Tulla Mae has come into season! She will honeymoon with Dutch from Waltzing Matilda Labradoodles over Memorial Day weekend for medium puppies with wavy fleece coats in cream, caramel, and chocolate to go home at the end of September. There are only 2 reservations spots available for this litter.

Big weekend for the pups. The families are visiting, and even though they don’t understand it yet, they are meeting their new moms/dads/brothers/sisters. The weather has been so fantastic, the pups are loving being outside! Ruby and Zeva are playing lots of frisbee, and the pups just wait for it to be dropped so that they can get a turn with it. Big sister Mimi is teaching them the fine art of gardening and foraging for edible weeds .

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I am so loving these little pups. When Seeker’s mom and I were talking before he honeymooned with Zeva, she kept telling me how much I would love the temperaments on his babies….she couldn’t have been more right . They are really sweet puppies! In the morning, when I say hello, I have a little song that I sing to them. All of them run over to the side of the whelping box with their tails wagging just looking for some loving. Yesterday we started giving them puppy mush for the first time and they did not need any encouragement….they all pounced and ate up the whole bowl. It’s supposed to be so nice this coming week, we’ll definitely start taking little trips outside to learn about the great outdoors.

I just had to giggle when I signed on to WordPress a few minutes ago and saw that my site hits for today are very high….it means that you all have been looking for the weekly pictures! Sorry to make everybody wait today . The puppies are doing great! All but Red Boy are over 4lbs as of this morning….quite large for this age, but it is all due to the small litter size. I think that the week between 2 & 3 is one of my favorites. It is this week when they first become very aware of each other and begin to initiate play. Part of the play is trying out their new noises…the tiny little growls and barks are so cute! They also become a bit more sure-footed and start to get a little running thing happening. More often than not, the result is a crash-stop into one of their brothers. Hope you enjoy this week’s pictures:

Watching puppies grow and develop is such an amazing thing! In just the last few days, their eyes have opened and they have started walking around in the whelping box. Teal Boy was even trying to get out of the box already to get to Zeva just outside. Now that they are moving around, our Mimi (14 weeks, from Zuma X Toby) is very interested in them. If I am not watching her like a hawk, she is in there trying to get them to play with her! In the next week the pups will start to hear noises for the first time. Have I mentioned that I have the best job in the world??

Holy cow! And I mean that literally….these little pups have gained a pound in a week! I guess there is something to be said for no competition at the milk bar . They are definitely fat and happy. I love that my Zeva is so happy too. By day 3 she was bringing her frisbee to me. Four pups is just a walk in the park compared to her litter last spring!

Happy Easter all! I had the cutest little ‘set’ on which to take their pictures today…..an Easter basket with grass and painted eggs. Zeva was having none of it! She was very annoyed with me for taking her pups out of the room and putting them in that silly basket, so we had a small change of venue. My father donned a blanket and we took some blurry pics in the puppy room, sitting next to the whelping box so that Zeva could supervise. So introducing for the first time ever, here are:

Welcome Zeva X Seeker Puppies!

Zeva and I had a great girls sleepover last night! We played computer games, watched infomercials, and took several late night jogs around my back yard (and I learned that there are some pretty big things running around in the dark woods behind my house!). She finally decided to get down to business around 4:30 this morning and blessed us with 4 gorgeous apricot and red boys! The puppies are all nursing strongly and doing well. Zeva is the perfect doting new momma . I will post individual pictures of the puppies tomorrow.

Ruby X Kokopelli Puppies ~ 7 Weeks

Seven weeks! Where did all that time go? This is the last set of pictures for my Ruby puppies….made even more sad by the fact that this is her retirement litter. This litter just LOVES to go outside. There was no adjustment period getting used to the sounds and textures….these little pups just ran full tilt from the minute their paws hit the grass. I love that the weather will be so beautiful for them this week!

What great personalities these puppies have! My neighbors are home from Penn State for Spring Break and they came over for a puppy fix. All of the Ruby puppies were out of the pen running wild in the puppy room! They were hopping and wrestling and attacking toes . I can’t wait to start taking them outside this week.
